What's covered: The recreation fee is a membership to the Student Recreation Center (SRC), Patty Ice, Patty Pool, Outdoor Adventures and Skiland (see the SRC for Skiland season pass receipt; only available for students enrolled in 6 or more credits on campus). The SRC is a comprehensive fitness facility with equipment, courts, track, group fitness, intramurals and a climbing wall. The Patty Ice arena provides recreational ice skating sessions. The Patty Pool provides lap swim sessions. Outdoor Adventures has discounted equipment rentals, trips and an outdoor rock/ice wall. Some extra programs have additional fees associated, consult NanookRec staff for details. Anyone under the age of 18 using these facilities must be accompanied by a legal guardian whose minimum age is 21 unless they are a full-time UAF student.

Student Spouse/Dependents

• Current UAF students may add dependent family members. Dependents cannot qualify for student/staff/faculty membership on their own. If they want a membership, they must purchase their own membership.
• Any family member over the age of 5 is required to have their own Polar Express Card or Nanook Recreation membership card to access the facility.

Children under the age of 5 are admitted at no charge unless they will be using the pool, but only with a parent or legal guardian with them.

Minors are not allowed into the UAF SRC unless the minor has fulfilled one of these:

1)  The parent or legal guardian stays with the minor

2)  Parent/Guardian Request to Allow Unaccompanied Minor(s) form

• Only possible for minors 15-17 years old
• Can only be signed by the parent or legal guardian

3)  Approved Guardian(s) Accompanying a Minor in the UAF Nanook Recreation Facilities Authorization Consent form

• Examples include but are not limited to siblings and grandparents
• Can only be signed by the parent or legal guardian

4)  The minor is part of a group that has completed the Facilities/Premises Use Agreement, has insurance covering a variety of things with UA named as additionally insured, the adults have been background checked, the adults have signed the UAF Protection of Minors Code of Conduct, and have preapproval from Nanook Recreation professional staff.  See the Group Reservation packet.

5)  The minor is a full-time UAF student
