Comprehensive first-year advising provides foundational skills, resources and academic support for students during their initial 30 credits for four-year degree programs. First-year advisors partner with departmental advisors to provide students with a solid foundation that will assist them throughout the completion of their degree.

Beginning in the fall of 2023, the Academic Advising Center will be advising all first-year students who are newly admitted to degree programs or have completed less than 30 credits at UAF.

 

After completing 30 credits, students seeking a degree within the College of Liberal Arts will meet with one of our CLA advisors.

CLA Students

with 30 credits or more

 

Our advisors can assist with registration, petitions, change of major requests and answer any number of questions related to the college experience.  Advising appointments are available in person, via telephone or via email. 

UAF Orientation Leaders engage in team building exercises before students arrive on campus before the start of the fall 2015 semester.

 

Registering for Classes

 

All undergraduate degree seeking students at UAF are required to meet with an academic advisor before registering for courses. Your advisor will assist you with selecting your courses and answer any questions you may have. Below are few things to help your advising appointment:

  • Log on to UAOnline to view your DegreeWorks audit, which will guide in selecting courses
  • Bring a list of any questions or concerns you have

 

 

How to schedule an advising appointment

Step 1

Log in with your school credentials here .

Step 2

Select an available time slot. Please note that 30 minute time slots are recommended for continuing students.

Step 3

In the 'description' box type the following: your student ID number and reason for the appointment.

Drop-In Hours

If you are unable to find an appointment time that works for your schedule, consider dropping by our offices on Fridays from 8 a.m.- 11 a.m. for drop-in hours. Appointments are first come, first serve during this time frame.

Need to cancel an appointment?

If you need to cancel your appointment simply select the "delete and notify guests" option on Google Calendar. If you are unable to make your appointment, please cancel it as "No Shows" may prevent other students from having a chance to make an appointment.
