Getting started: How to transfer to UAF
We are here to help you make the process of transferring colleges as quick and easy as possible. Here’s how to get started:
On the Apply page, you’ll be prompted to create a new student admissions account (or sign in) and select whether to complete an undergraduate/graduate application or a non-degree seeking application. You can also find more information about transcripts, test scores and requirements for transfer students
Send official transcripts from your current school or any previous colleges and universities to UAF.
Please email electronic transcripts to uaf-admissions@alaska.edu or mail to:
University of Alaska Fairbanks
Office of Admissions
P.O. Box 757480
Fairbanks AK 99775-7480
If you've completed less than 30 credits, please send your official high school transcript and ACT or SAT scores in addition to your college transcripts. If you are applying to UAF for the academic years 2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25 or summer 2025, your ACT and SAT scores will be waived.
Transfer student scholarships
Get help with tuition and education costs. UAF’s Pioneer scholarship is reserved for transfer and return students. We also offer a variety of other scholarships and financial aid opportunities you should explore as you transfer colleges.
Information for transferring students
Transfer credit is credit that has been earned from other accredited institutions, through military educational experiences, approved National exams (CLEP, AP, IB) or credit accepted by special approval. Where possible, your transfer credit is equated with UAF courses and all other classes will transfer as elective credit. If you are transferring from a quarter system, your credits will be converted to semester credits.
General education requirements for transfer students
Your general education requirements will be waived if you have earned a bachelor's
degree, an associate of arts degree or an associate of science degree from a regionally
accredited institution. If you’re planning to transfer to UAF from UAA or UAS, you
can transfer any general education requirements you have already completed.
GPA for transfer students
GPAs from other colleges or universities (including UAA and UAS) are not computed in your GPA for UAF; however, they are used when determining your eligibility for honors at the time of graduation.
