As we begin the Fall 2022 semester, Student Health & Counseling would like to remind students, staff, and faculty of the various groups we are offering.  Groups and workshops are open to all UA students, regardless of campus location.  Descriptions and registration links are listed below:

A place for those who are grieving
Life After Loss is a grief support group open to any student who has experienced loss. We will give grief a voice and share our stories, giving meaning and healing a seat at the table, offering peace, understanding and the experience of feeling deeply known and seen.

Love Your Body is a support group for those who are concerned about body image.
We will share and discuss experiences and concerns about body image to support each other and embrace and love who we are.

Connect with your body, your mind and others. 
Nanook Health and Wellness Walk Group is a new walking group that is starting this semester. We will have health and wellness related themes to think about during our walk each week to connect with your body, mind, and others. Let’s go for a walk and have fun together!

Everyone is welcome to this group and there is no registration or signing up needed!

  • Time and place: Wednesdays at 2:30 p.m. at the lounge next to Arctic Java in Wood Center and go for a fun walk for 30 to 45 min.

Mindful Mondays is an open drop-in group for UA students, staff, and faculty who are interested in learning about and practicing mindfulness. Each week we cover a different topic related to mindfulness and meditation–feel free to join in one class or join them all!

  • Time and place: Most Mondays from noon-1 p.m. This group is offered in a hybrid format: In-person attendees join in Gruening 215D and on Zoom.

Take Charge of Your Headspace is a skills based workshop focusing on stress management and coping while being a college student.  This series is available to all students, regardless of eligibility.  This is a topical workshop series so you can attend one or attend them all, depending on where your interests are.
