Funding Opportunities

URSA Summer Project Award

The URSA Summer Projects Award is for undergraduate students planning to conduct research or pursue creative projects during summer 2021. These awards may be used to cover: student stipend, tuition, travel (for conducting field work - pending on COVID-19 restrictions), and supplies or services.

The Summer Projects Award fund up to $5,000 for an individual, and also up to $5,000 for a group of two or more students.

The application deadline is February 21, 2021.

 

Alaska Space Grant Program summer stipends

Alaska Space Grant Program (ASGP) is offering summer stipends for undergraduate students to participate in science research or engineering design projects with faculty mentors. 

Undergraduate Research Apprenticeships
These fellowships are for full-time students who are US citizens to explore a research question or engineering design project under the mentorship of a faculty mentor. The stipends are $6,000 and students should expect to expend approximately 400 hours of effort on their projects over the summer. Students apply directly to ASGP.  Applications are due March 1, 2021
 
Early Career Undergraduate Research Apprenticeships
These fellowships, up to $3,000 (based on student enrollment) are for undergraduate students who may be just starting out in their programs, or undeclared students who may be curious about participating in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) fields. Students need to be US citizens and enrolled in, at minimum, one STEM course during the summer. The faculty defines the project and commits to recruiting the student. Faculty may request support for up to two students.  Applications are due March 1, 2021. These proposals need not go through OGCA or UAF pre-proposal procedures. Please send them directly to ASGP.
 

 

2021 Innovative Technology and Education (ITE) Awards

The Innovative Technology and Education (ITE) award is open to any UAF undergraduate, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, staff, and faculty requiring technology-related equipment and/or software for student-based instruction and/or research.

The application deadline is March 14, 2021.

Events

URSA Research and Creative Activity Days

The 2021 URSA's Research and Creative Activity Days will be online from April 6-8, 2021. This event is an opportunity for all undergraduate students to share their research with the UAF community.
