Jack investigates salmonid movement, ocean ecology, and population dynamics by leveraging disparate fisheries and movement data, remotely-sensed and modeled oceanographic data, and quantitative methods. His research aims to improve understanding of Chinook salmon natural mortality, characterize mechanisms driving Chinook salmon body size decline and reduced age at maturity, and develop environmental indices to support sockeye salmon in-season forecasting and life cycle modeling.
