Vanessa Raymond Brings Data Programming Experience to ACEP

ACEP is excited to welcome Vanessa Raymond to the team.

Raymond joins ACEP as program manager for the Alaska Regional Collaboration for Technology Innovation and Commercialization program. She will also be assuming the role of data program lead, heading up the data initiative to create a data governance structure that supports ACEP’s diverse data ecosystem.

Raymond comes to ACEP with her vast experience in designing, building and expanding software that manages or visualizes Arctic environmental data. She most recently designed and built an information management system for the Inuit Circumpolar Council Alaska’s 50-plus years of Inuit advocacy as their data advisor and archivist. She has also worked as a project manager, product owner and data manager for Axiom Data Science, Resource Data Inc., the National Science Foundation Arctic Data Center and the Geographic Information Network of Alaska.

Witnessing ACEP beginning to innovate in its community engagement and data governance work, Raymond is eager to be a part of designing and piloting a new data governance framework with the ARCTIC team.

“I am glad to join such an impressive group of passionate people,” Raymond said.

While the majority of her work experience is in technical project management, Raymond has also served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Bulgaria and has founded her own companies. She has a Master of Arts in Arctic governance and a Bachelor of Arts in jazz history.

Outside of work, you can find Raymond walking her mastiff Gerty, berry picking, tinkering in the kitchen or working on her startup Telesomm, a marketplace for wine experiences.
