The Alaska Nuclear Energy Working Group meeting in October will feature a presentation by Mariana Low on logistics of microreactor transport to Alaska.

An energy resource engineering student at UAF, Low interned this summer with nuclear energy economist Haydn Bryan and distinguished research economist Jason Hansen, both at the Idaho National Laboratory.

Low will discuss unique challenges involving reactor transport in Alaska with the maps she created showing different route options.

When: 11 a.m. AKDT, Tuesday, Oct. 27

Please register to attend the meeting.

If you missed the past presentations, recordings are available here.

The Alaska Nuclear Energy Working Group brings together members of the public, researchers and industry stakeholders to investigate advanced nuclear reactor technologies and examine their potential roles, benefits, and challenges within the Alaska energy landscape.

Hosted by ACEP, AKNEWG meetings occur on the fourth Tuesday of the month and include presentations from researchers, industry leaders and others involved in the nuclear energy sector with time for Q&A and discussion. The working group may also be called upon to provide input on future studies and policy direction. We welcome broad and active participation.
