Presentations on portable micro nuclear reactors and federal nuclear energy priorities
The Alaska Nuclear Energy Working Group meeting in May will feature two presentations.
Ara Krikorian, head of business development for Radiant Nuclear, will discuss providing grid-competitive baseload capacity and resilience using portable micro nuclear reactors.
Prior to joining Radiant, Krikorian spent 24 years in renewables as an executive focused on solar photovoltaic, battery storage systems and electric vehicle supply equipment for a wide range of large-scale use, including manufacturing, airports and cities in the U.S. Using his decades of experience and expertise in turnkey project development, Krikorian focuses on assisting Radiant’s impressive assemblage of government, military and commercial customers to scale up so they can provide clean, dense, easily deployable, resilient and safe baseload power to industry anywhere.
Rian Bharan will provide an update on the Trump Administration’s priorities related to nuclear energy and key initiatives currently underway. Bharan serves as the deputy assistant secretary for nuclear reactors in the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Nuclear Energy, overseeing a comprehensive portfolio that includes research, development, demonstration and deployment of advanced nuclear reactors.
ANEW, hosted by ACEP, brings together members of the public, researchers and industry stakeholders to investigate advanced nuclear reactor technologies and examine their potential role, benefits and challenges within the Alaska energy landscape.
