Potential role of advanced nuclear in Alaska workshop

Conference flyerOn Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 27-28, the Alaska Sustainable Energy Conference, in partnership with the Alaska Center for Energy and Power, is hosting a free two-day virtual workshop on the potential role of advanced nuclear in Alaska.

As advanced nuclear energy moves from research to reality, new questions arise about readiness, deployment timelines and regional fit. Building on earlier discussions, this workshop will focus on recent progress in U.S. demonstration projects, evolving regulatory frameworks and the readiness of Alaska’s utilities and communities to evaluate nuclear options.

The workshop, “The potential role of advanced nuclear in Alaska” will cover a range of applications, from microreactors for rural communities to larger systems supporting the Railbelt and major industrial hubs like mines and data centers.

This workshop is part of the Continuing Conversations series to be held between now and the 2026 Alaska Sustainable Energy Conference in May.

When: 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. AKST, Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 27 and 28

The workshop is free, but registration is required to attend.

Recordings will be available at alaskasustainableenergy.com if you cannot tune in live.
