ACEP Summer Internship Program 2026

Now in its eighth year, the ACEP Summer Internship Program selected 12 interns to work on a range of energy research projects across Alaska. Each intern is mentored by a researcher from the Alaska Center for Energy and Power (ACEP) to focus on an Alaska-based energy project.

The cohort consists of three internship strands — NSF REU (Research Experiences for Undergraduates), AUSI (ACEP Undergraduate Summer Internship), and Utility Research Partnerships.

Students begin the summer with an orientation in Fairbanks and Anchorage and have engaged discussions around the resources, technologies, people and operations that power Alaska’s diverse energy systems. At the end of the 10-week internship program, interns gave final presentations which can be viewed on the ACEP YouTube page.
