Call for abstracts: Western Alaska Interdisciplinary Science Conference

The Western Alaska Interdisciplinary Science Conference requests submissions for oral and poster presentations drawn from all disciplines that address questions and issues of concern to Western Alaska communities. Ongoing recovery from ex-Typhoon Halong is anticipated to shape this year's conversation, and proposals are encouraged that speak to storm recovery and community preparedness. Other topics are still welcome. Abstracts due by Jan. 30.

UAF students are required to either verify their Bookstore Bundle order and select a delivery preference (in-store pickup or shipped) or choose to opt out. The verification period opened on Dec. 15, 2025, and will close on Jan. 23.

Waiver renewal notice for spouses and dependents

Spouses, FIP, and dependents of full-time faculty and staff who received a tuition waiver request for fall 2025 will not need to complete a separate request for spring 2026. Spouses, FIP, and dependents of adjunct faculty members will need to complete a waiver.

The UAF chancellor search committee is temporarily pausing its efforts in order to partner with WittKeiffer, a nationally recognized executive search firm that is also leading the search for a new UA president. This strategic step is designed to elevate the opportunity, strengthen recruitment efforts, expand outreach and ensure UAF attracts the most qualified and diverse pool of candidates. As part of the process, WittKiefer will collaborate with the current search committee and build on its work, including assisting with vetting candidates who have already submitted their applications.
