Convocation scavenger hunt details

The details for the scavenger hunt are here! The game will open at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 19 and will close on Monday, Sept. 26 at 5 p.m. To be eligible for the prizes all missions in the scavenger hunt have to be completed, and the participant has to be present at Convocation to win.

Nanooks Hockey opens preseason with Blue and Gold games

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks hockey team is kicking off its preseason on Sept. 16 and 17 with the annual Blue/Gold Scrimmage games. This year, the festivities will return to the Patty Ice Arena on the UAF Troth Yeddha' campus.

It is awesome to have our Troth Yeddha' campus vibrant with students once again. It is energizing to walk around and see students dining in the Wood Center, walking across Constitution Park between classes, and taking the hike up to or down from MBS. I hear faculty and staff still remarking on this daily and we are three weeks into the semester. The positive energy doesn't seem to be wearing off; it continues to be contagious and rejuvenating!

Kristin O'Brien invited to serve on Advisory Committee for Polar Programs

Kristin O'Brien, professor in the Institute of Arctic Biology and Department of Biology and Wildlife, has been invited to serve on the Advisory Committee (AC) for Polar Programs at the NSF. The next meeting of the AC will be held virtually via Zoom on Sept. 15-16 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., and polar researchers are welcome and encouraged to attend but will need to register in advance.

NDAs, also referred to as confidential disclosure agreements and proprietary information agreements, are handled by staff at UAF’s Office of Intellectual Property and Commercialization and Office of Grants and Contracts Administration.

Welcome back to the fall semester! It is a change in seasons and change in the feeling on the Troth Yeddha' Campus as students return to UAF. I'm sure this feeling is shared at all of the UAF, CTC and community campus locations. As part of preparation for this return, the team in Administrative Services is working hard to make campus look great and feel welcoming, continue with construction work during the busy summer season, and improve and test our safety and notification protocols on campus to ensure the Nanook community is well-situated in case of an emergency.
