Solstice Poetry Cycle was a smashing success!

 

The first-ever Solstice Poetry Cycle presented by the Midnight Sun Visiting Writers series packed a full house this past Friday, January 19th, 2024 with 137 people in attendance in person in Schaible Auditorium and another 50 people online. At this unique literary event, thirty local poets shared one poem apiece. No introductions, explanations, or small talk—just rapid-fire poetry. The Solstice Poetry Cycle was a live anthology of Fairbanks-area poets, showcasing the depth and diversity of our literary community from high school to graduate students, alumni, teachers in our community, professors at the University, and established artists from around Fairbanks. The event featured collectible posters designed by Kathryn Reichert, and a meet and greet afterward with an opportunity to purchase books from the participating poets.
