Chancellor’s Report on Philanthropy

Winter 2022

Dear UAF supporter,

As we celebrate the season of gratitude, I reflect on your generosity and that of others like you who make a difference at UAF by investing in our world-class people and programs.

In September, UAF hosted the UA Foundation Board of Directors at a reception where we showcased the Troth Yeddha’ Indigenous Studies Center Initiative. That evening, nearly $100,000 was donated in support of the Troth Yeddha’ Indigenous Studies Center. This initiative moves UAF one step closer to the construction of what will be a center of belonging for Alaska Native and Indigenous students everywhere.

This fall I had the privilege to deliver UAF’s Convocation. I invite you to check out the recorded stream or some of the embedded videos — we have a lot to celebrate! Notably, through the generous gifts from our past, present and future donors, UAF students and programs continue to thrive.

As we celebrate the power of transformative philanthropy at UAF, it seems fitting to appreciate our legacy donors — an extraordinary group of people who included, or plan to include, UAF in their estate plans. UAF is deeply grateful for the gifts from our past that continue to have a tremendous impact today, and we are humbled by the philanthropy we have yet to see.

I wish you a wonderful holiday season with your family and friends, and thanks for choosing UAF.
