Academic Advising
Academic and program advisors help students select, plan and complete their academic goals and serve as one of the important keys to your academic success.
The UAF CTC’s Advising Center provides advising for associate of arts and non-degree students, as well as those in the process of deciding upon a program of study. Advising for degree students is provided by program advisors with detailed knowledge of the student’s degree program. Military students and their dependents can receive specialized advising. Career advising is also available through our advising center.

If you have chosen a degree program, your program advisor will be a faculty member with detailed knowledge about your degree program, as well as university processes and support resources. Meeting regularly with your program advisor is encouraged. At a minimum, you will meet with your program advisor to plan each upcoming semester and obtain their signature to activate your account for registration.

Specialized advisors are available to support active duty military, dependents, and Veterans. These advisors can assist you in both academic and financial aid advising.
The UAF CTC Advising Center provides assistance with career planning including choosing a career, writing a resume and cover letter, practicing mock interviews, and searching for jobs.

Kevin Alexander and Brenda Madore, candidates for dean of the University of Alaska Fairbanks Community and Technical College, will give public presentations Monday, Dec. 1, and Tuesday, Dec. 2.
UAF summit to explore health care careers, education
October 21, 2025
Community members can explore an ever-expanding array of health careers and educational opportunities at the 14th annual Alaska Interior Medical Education Summit. The summit will feature demonstrations, panel discussions and hands-on activities to introduce attendees to various health care careers and education options. It will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25, in the Murie Building at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
UAF culinary program bistro opens for spring season

The Borealis Bistro, a lunch service provided by the UAF Community and Technical College culinary arts program, will be open to the public from Feb. 27-May 1.
