    Sandia National Labs; the University of Alaska Fairbanks Center for Innovation, Commercialization, and Entrepreneurship (Center ICE); the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL); the Alaska Small Business Development Center (ASBDC); Fairbanks Economic Development Corporation (FEDC); and the Department of Energy (DOE) Boost Platform hosted a workshop in April focused on identifying regional technology challenges and opportunities.

    Makerspace Student Success Showcased

    Makerspace Students in the Engineering 101 lab class have been hard at work on their student-led projects this semester under the tutelage of Dr. Dustin Ray, mechanical engineering professor, and Tate Barhaug, Makerspace Manager and Teaching Assistant. The class takes place in the Makerspace with the intention of inspiring students to find creative and practical solutions to challenges. The student teams are first-year undergraduate students who are interested in problem solving, some of whom have declared a major in engineering.

    The Alaska Fellows Program (AFP) is a fall-to-spring residential fellowship program that nurtures the next generation of Alaska-based leaders by pairing talented young people with professional mentors and strong communities. The University of Alaska Fairbanks Center for Innovation, Commercialization, and Entrepreneurship is supporting an Innovation Fellow this year.
