Sandia National Labs; the University of Alaska Fairbanks Center for Innovation, Commercialization, and Entrepreneurship (Center ICE); the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL); the Alaska Small Business Development Center (ASBDC); Fairbanks Economic Development Corporation (FEDC); and the Department of Energy (DOE) Boost Platform hosted a workshop in April focused on identifying regional technology challenges and opportunities.

The unique opportunity provided insights into energy challenges and opportunities in Fairbanks and Interior Alaska. During the workshop, participants were able to engage with experts from Sandia National Labs and the Department of Energy to identify specific technology challenges facing the region. The Alaska Federal And State Technology (FAST) program also presented potential opportunities for small business innovation research for energy innovations.

The information gathered during this workshop will be used to inform community-based startups and identify additional opportunities for communities to engage with national laboratories in the region. If you are interested in joining the DOE BOOST Program the application deadline is Friday, May 26.
