Update your Duo Mobile app to maintain access to resources!

January 21, 2026

What is changing?
Duo is ending support for older app versions to improve security and performance. Starting February 2, 2026, versions earlier than 4.85 will no longer receive security updates and are expected to have compatibility issues.

What happens if I don't update?
After February 2, 2026, when logging in, you may be prompted to use another method of authentication, such as a Platform Authenticator or security key.

Be prepared: if Duo Mobile is your only method and you have not updated the app, you will not be able to log in to campus systems using SSO, including UA Online and Google.

How do I know if I should update?
If you're currently using Duo Mobile and it's working, check your app version:

● Open Duo Mobile app on your phone or tablet
● Go to Settings (the gear icon); look for "App Version"
● If it's earlier than 4.85, you need to update to maintain functionality
We recommend you update to the latest version available

Be sure to note trailing zeroes and decimal points in version numbers! For example, version 4.85 is older than 4.102.0

Can I still use my current phone?
Yes! As long as your phone supports iOS 16.0 (for iPhones) or Android 12 (for Android phones) or newer, you can continue to use it uninterrupted.

If your phone is too old to upgrade, you'll need to use a different device or an alternative authentication method.

I updated my app - what do I do next?
Nothing! As long as Duo Mobile is working for UA SSO logins, you're all set.
