Solo Exhibit at the Alaska State Museum

The Alaska State Museum in Juneau is presenting a solo exhibition of Gail Priday’s paintings through Feb. 4, 2023. Priday, associate director of Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning and UAF art department alumna, received a 2022 Individual Artist Award from the Rasmuson Foundation. A portion of the award helped cover the cost of shipping 33 paintings from Fairbanks to Juneau.

Survey: Science experiences in Arctic communities and citizen science projects

At 9 a.m. on a crisp Monday morning in mid-November, I am one of about 10 people standing outside an office on First Avenue in Fairbanks. We are here for the “wood drop” program organized by Aurora Energy Solutions, a subsidiary of Aurora Energy — the company that owns the 27.5-megawatt coal-fired power plant, right across the road, that supplies electricity to the greater Fairbanks area and heat in the form of steam to the downtown area.

Winter break parking lot closures and snow removal

With heavy snows expected, Facility Services is working around the clock to provide drivable roads and parking spaces for all university stakeholders. A significant part of the snow clearance is hard pack removal. To provide a safe and conducive working environment for our plows and graders and to protect your personal vehicle, we need to close certain parking lots.

BLaST celebrates December Scientist of the Month

Since 2016, the Biomedical Learning and Student Training (BLaST) program at University of Alaska Fairbanks has highlighted scientists from all biomedical fields through its Scientist of the Month articles. BLaST Scholar and UAF biological sciences undergraduate student Daphne Mueller was selected as the December 2022 BLaST Scientist of the Month. ACEP Expands Summer Internship Program for 2023

In 2022, ACEP hired 16 interns who worked in almost all aspects of the organization. We’re excited to announce the expansion of the 2023 summer undergraduate internship program.

STEM fellowships available for education students

Education students: create a series of STEM lessons and you could earn $2,500! You must be an elementary or secondary teacher education student doing a classroom practicum. Students are encouraged to incorporate NASA education materials in all classrooms, including visual and performing arts, social studies, health and physical education, and the humanities.
