Six student-led sustainability projects, totaling $117,286, were approved for funding this summer. These projects include:

  • Electric carts for UAF sustainability

  • Green dorm model room

  • Campuswide computer shutdown

  • Expanding the green bike program

  • SRC solar PV project, phase III

  • Battery manufacturing research

The Student Initiative for Renewable Energy Now fund is collected from UAF student fees on a per course basis. Chancellor Rogers matches whatever amount the fee generates and uses it to fund approved proposals, which contribute to the goal of reducing UAF’s non-renewable energy consumption. Each semester the RISE Advisory Board and Office of Sustainability approves proposals to support UAF’s sustainability initiatives.

Proposals for the next round are due in October.
