The UAF Safety Awareness Incentive Program promotes workplace safety through positive reinforcement of observed safe behaviors and voluntary participation in various safety/risk programs.

There are several ways UAF employees can participate in this program. Incentive award winners may be recognized on-the-spot, when observed working in a safe manner, as well as drawn from a pool of entries for the award period (typically quarterly with a year-end grand prize and special award presentation). Participating employees are eligible for incentive awards such as UAF Bookstore and local eatery gift cards, coffee mugs and water/drink bottles, movie theater pass packages, as well as an EHSRM-sponsored lunch for your department.

The specific award areas so far include:

  • Individuals completing 100% of BASIC Safety Training requirements

  • Individuals submitting a Loss Prevention Application

  • Individuals submitting an Unsafe Condition Report

  • Individuals submitting a Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for review

  • Individuals observed working in a safe manner or otherwise promoting safety

  • End of year party

  • Safety Spirit Award

Program details can be found online. Contact EHSRM Safety Officers Gary Beaudette at 474-2763 or Kim Knudsen at 474-5476 if you have questions.
