Mountain Stage to arrive in Fairbanks for two shows

West Virginia Public Radio’s live performance radio program Mountain Stage is making its first trip to Alaska Aug. 17-18.

Host Larry Groce will highlight musicians from near and far at two live shows at the Davis Concert Hall on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus. The concerts will later be broadcast on NPR.

The Friday, Aug. 17 concert will feature Austin-based band, Hot Club of Cowtown, Joshua Tree’s Tim Easton, Portland’s Horse Feathers, and Alaska’s Melissa Mitchell and The Whipsaws.

The Saturday, Aug. 18 concert will feature singer/songwriter Tift Merritt, Nashville-based Bearfoot, David Lindley, and Alaskans Pat Fitzgerald and Robin Dale Ford, Steve Brown and the Bailers, and Susan Grace.

Tickets are $32 and can be purchased online at www.alaskatix.com or in-person at the UAF Summer Sessions & Lifelong Learning offices, Room 216 of the Eielson Building and at If Only- A Fine Store at 215 Cushman Street. The box office will open at 6 p.m. both days, doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the shows will each start at 7 p.m.
