Freymueller named AVO coordinating scientist

Jeff Freymueller was named the new Alaska Volcano Observatory Coordinating Scientist in late July. Freymueller was chosen for the position by administrators with the Geophysical Institute, the U.S. Geological Survey and the Alaska Division of Geological and Geophysical Surveys. He is also a professor of geophysics, having joined the Geophysical Institute faculty in 1995. He earned his master's and doctorate from the University of South Carolina.

Freymueller replaces Steve McNutt who is moving out of state.
