June 12, 2012

Marmian Grimes

Illegal and unregulated fishing threatens the health of marine turtles, mammals and fisheries worldwide. Kate Wynne will describe her work with NOAA to train fishery observers in several West African countries at 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 12 in 201 O'Neill as part of Alaska's Land and Sea Lecture Series.

Wynne is a Marine Advisory Program marine mammal specialist who lives in Kodiak. She has authored two marine mammal field guides and trained hundreds of fishery observers to accurately identify the mammal species that interact with U.S. and international fisheries.

Alaska’s Land and Sea Lecture Series will be held every Tuesday evening June 5 – August 14 (no lecture on July 3) at 7 p.m. in 201 O’Neill.
