The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in mathematics and statistics.
Research interests in mathematics include algebraic statistics, analysis, combinatorics, computational algebra, control theory, geometric analysis, graph theory, inverse problems, mathematical biology, mathematical physics, mathematics education, numerical analysis, partial differential equations, and optics.
Research interests in statistics include sampling design, biostatistics, spatial statistics, density estimation, quality control, and design of experiments.
UAF Math Course Realignment
UAF math courses were updated with new course numbers and some name changes to better meet the needs of students across all of UA's campuses. For information on all the updates that took effect in summer and fall 2015, review the course realignment here.
All students enrolled in core math courses at the UAF Fairbanks Campus or eCampus are automatically enrolled in a tutoring course through Blackboard to give them access to tutoring support offered by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Courses where students will be enrolled in this tutoring course include MATH 113X, 114X, 122X, 151X, 152X, 230X, 251X, 252X, 253X, 302 and STAT 200X.
