June 6 , 2023 12-1PM Making and Using a Firewood Dry Kiln to Speed Firewood Curing and Seasoning

UAF CES Outreach Forester, Glen Holt, will present and describe how to build and use a homemade "solar Kiln" to dry your green firewood so that it is less than 20% moisture content during the hot sunny time of summer. He will explain the usefulness of this device as well as why burning "seasoned" firewood in your woodstove is so important. He will have time for questions and comments after the presentation.

Join us at the UAF Matanuska Experiment Farm and Extension Center and visit the fields with Invasive Plants guru, Gino Graziano, as he shares the research he's working on regarding managing weeds and pests in Alaska.
 
This class will be held outside at the Matanuska Experiment Farm and Extension Center. Please dress appropriately for being out in the field! Plan to meet in our office parking lot right outside Kerttula Hall.
