CCHRC Housing is a collaboration between the UAF Office of Sustainability and the Cold Climate Housing Research Center. Students were involved in designing and building the village of four 1,600-square-foot, four-bedroom homes on UAF property near the CCHRC headquarters. The houses are part of an ongoing research project with UAF and the CCHRC.

Each house has a unique combination of wall assembly, foundation and heating and ventilation systems. The CCHRC monitors each home for energy consumption, electricity use, indoor air quality, and ground temperature to see the environmental impact and cost-benefit of the different techniques used to build each home.

Their use as student housing through UAF Residence Life was discontinued in fall 2019.
