Chemical Inventory
University of Alaska Fairbanks uses the program Environmental Health & Safety Assistant produced by On Site Systems, Inc. of St. Louis for all chemical inventories. The
system is a web-based program that stores information electronically. All UAF laboratories
(including extended sites) using chemicals must use this system. If you had a chemical
inventory submitted to EHSRM as of August 2011, then most of your chemicals are already
in the database. All you will need to do is update the container size and number
of containers.
The program also includes a link to an SDS management system maintained by MSDS Online®. This program allows you to search for the most current SDS for your product. Once the product URL is in your inventory, you can easily view your SDS from the program. UAF is allowed unlimited number of SDS searches of the database.
Note :
- If you can’t find an SDS for your product, EHSRM will be happy to assist.
- If you find discrepancies between the most current SDS and information reported by the EH&S Assistant program, contact Kris Riley (see contact information to the left) for an SDS review.
Remember:
- You must obtain a username and password from EHSRM before you can log on to the program (it can be your UAF ID and username, but EHSRM has to manually enter it). You may change your password at any time from the logon page and your password is always secure.
- If you need access to the online system and are off campus (any non-UAF location statewide), you must use the Cisco AnyConnect VPN service. Go here to learn how to install the program.
If you will be generating hazardous waste, go here to learn how to submit an online hazardous waste pickup request.
