About the Artist

Erica Catherine Matthews is an emerging photographer based in Kingston, NY. Matthews has an artistic past in floral design and creation. Much of her current work focuses on themes of life, death, and what it means to feel temporary. These themes are explored through arranged sets, composed in her studio. Her sets usually feature living plants and flora, skeletal prompts, and (often) creatures of flight, such as butterflies- rehydrated and pinned. Matthews has had work published with Defunkt Magazine and Fatal Flaw as well as an upcoming feature with Reed Magazine. Her work can be found on Instagram @I_am_having_a_thought.
