Youth mental health first aid course offered for adults

UAF Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is offering a non-credit course to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent who is experiencing a mental health or addiction challenge or is in crisis.

Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance abuse, disruptive behavior disorders (including ADHD), eating disorders and more. Instructor Justine Schmidt is certified by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing to teach this course.

The course meets in Murie 103, April 11, 16, and 18 from 6-8 pm. The cost is $50.
