Carla Mccain selected as Research Compliance Officer

Carla Mccain has been selected as the new Research Compliance Officer (RCO) of the University of Alaska Fairbanks Office of Research Integrity (ORI).

ORI is a vital part of the UAF’s research administration team under the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research. As the RCO, Carla serves the UAF research community by creating, developing, and implementing educational and post-approval monitoring programs to ensure compliance with research policies, laws, and regulations.

The RCO provides expert consultation services to the university community on research compliance topics, including human subject protections, animal subject protections, biosafety, controlled substances, and educational opportunities for University personnel on responsible conduct of research. Additionally, the RCO offers guidance and support for Conflicts of Interest, Research Misconduct, Material Transfer Agreement, and provides central guidance with permitting requirements/needs for entities such as but not limited to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Alaska Department of Fish and Game, land use, and biologicals.

Carla steps into her role, leaving behind her research compliance coordinator position with Arkansas State University. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from the department side of research, and we look forward to building a more robust support system for our growing research.

Carla is available during the following office hours:

  • Monday-Thursday: 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. AKST
  • Friday: 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. AKST
