Bursar Jennie Witter is retiring after more than 30 years of service to the University of Alaska Fairbanks, including the last seven years leading the bursar’s office. Witter began her career in 1993, working at the campus bookstore. She later worked for Follett, the company that held the bookstore contract at that time. She returned to UAF in 2014 and was later tasked to lead the bursar’s office.
During her tenure, Witter implemented several student-centered changes, including automated tuition waivers and working with Financial Aid to ensure funds are released to students well before the start of the semester.
“I’d like to thank Jennie for all she’s done on behalf of our students and UAF,” said Amanda Wall, the associate vice chancellor for financial and business services. “She’s been a stalwart leader and will be missed by the entire team in the Bursar’s Office and in Financial and Business Services.”
