Yukon Drive to close to west bound traffic through June 17

April 25, 2011

University Relations

Due to a deep excavation along Yukon Drive for the new School of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences Research and Teaching Greenhouse, the contractor has requested that Yukon Drive be closed to west bound traffic beginning on April 26 until June 17, 2011.

The road will be unsafe to travel on the northern edge of the west-bound lane.  This will cause a detour of west-bound traffic coming from lower campus along Yukon Drive with a destination of Tanana Loop.  The detour will be in effect north on Sheenjek and west on Koyukuk out to Tanana Loop.

The east bound lane that would take you from Tanana Loop east towards the UA museum will remain open. The detour will affect only through traffic and not UAF access to the rear of the Arctic Health Building. Ghemm Co. will have a traffic control plan in place.  For more information about the Life Sciences Facility and a current construction map, visit  www.uaf.edu/lifesciences.
