Youth climbing programs for spring 2019

Registration for the spring 2019 youth climbing programs is now open. Learning and competitive classes begin mid-January. When you come to your first practice please be prepared to fill out our youth program forms for your child.

Registration is required for all programs, and payment must be received at registration. Outdoor Adventures is unfortunately unable to take reservations or hold spots.

    • Please note: There is an age restriction on these programs, so you must register your child, not the parent. Your child must have a profile in our system in order for them to be registered. If they do not have a profile, then you can easily make one.

      • On the mynookrec page go to your profile and click "Add a Dependent." Fill out the required information, and go back to the registration page to complete the registration.






Fairbanks flash-competitive youth climbing team
The Fairbanks flash-competitive youth climbing team gives climbers the chance to compete with other youth climbing teams in our region: Alaska/Washington, Division 1. Practices are specifically aimed at teaching climbers the skills and techniques they need to compete at USA Climbing-sanctioned competitions. During practice, the coach works with each athlete to prevent injury, maximize climbing time, pinpoint strengths and weaknesses, motivate, inspire, and promote a healthy team environment.

  • Offered: Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30-6:30 p.m. (Jan. 15-May 2)

  • Cost: $375/semester

  • Space limited to 10 students

  • Minimum age: 10 years old

  • Coach: Travis Russell


Rec climbing club
This after-school climbing session teaches basic rock climbing skills and technique through top rope climbing and bouldering indoors. We also encourage communication, teamwork, problem solving, trust and confidence through climbing with a small group of climbers. We want to grow a lifelong appreciation of climbing in our participants.

  • Offered: Wednesdays 4:30-6:30 p.m. (Jan. 16-May 1)

  • Cost: $200/semester

  • Space limited to 10 students

  • Minimum age: 8 years old
