Workshop on chairing graduate committees Nov. 19

The UAF Graduate School is hosting a faculty development workshop, "Chairing Graduate Committees — Principles and Practices," that will focus on best practices in chairing graduate committees. The workshop will be on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2-3:30 p.m. via Zoom.

The workshop's goal is to support faculty members who are chairing graduate committees, particularly those taking on graduate students for the first time this year or planning to take students next year. The workshop will provide an overview of the graduate committee chair's role, with perspectives and experience from a faculty panel.

Faculty panelists will provide valuable information and their experiences on:

• Life cycle of the graduate committee
• Chairing or co-chairing committees
• Selecting committee members
• Monitoring student progress
• Working with students outside of your department
