Head coach Cody Bench announced the completion of the Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team's incoming recruiting class with the signing of Victoria Milton (Lansing, Mich./Waverly) to a National Letter of Intent.

"I am happy to add Victoria to the roster and complete our recruiting class for the upcoming season," Bench said. "She is very talented with a history of playing with and against some of the best girls in Michigan. She was a leader on the court and in her high school and is ready to lead this team In similar ways."

A 5-foot-5 guard, Milton was a two-time Michigan High School Athletic Association All-State honoree at Waverly High School in Lansing, Mich. She was twice named the Lansing State Journal Player of the Year and was a three-time Capital Area Activities Conference Team selection.

Milton captained the Warriors to a pair of conference titles as WHS won the 2011 title with a 20-3 record and 2012 crown with a 21-2 win-loss mark. Her career-best single-season averages included 15.8 points, 6.2 assists and 3.0 steals per game.

A tri-sport athlete, she also was a right side hitter for the volleyball team for three years and also participated in four years of track and field as a shot put and discus thrower. Off the playing fields, she is a two-year member of the Black Student Union.

Upon enrolling, Milton intends to major in business administration with a management concentration.

Milton rounds out the 2013-14 incoming class, which also consists of guards Autumn Childers (Dewey, Ariz./Prescott), Candace Prestwich (Murray, Utah/College of Southern Idaho) and Ashlyn White (Sanger, Calif/Reedley College) and forwards Josie Broderick (North Pole, Alaska/North Pole), Delisa Chapman (Palmdale, Calif./College of the Canyons), Kaillee Skjold (Kasilof, Alaska/Soldotna) and Jordan Wilson (Henderson, Colo./Prairie View).

"The incoming freshmen class completes a balanced attack of guards and forwards," Bench said. "They are the future of Alaska women's basketball and are extremely eager to make us successful as soon as possible."
