Researchers are invited to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations for the 2020 Western Alaska Interdisciplinary Science Conference, hosted by Alaska Sea Grant and UAF Bristol Bay Campus, to be held in Dillingham April 2-4. The conference will feature a wide range of exciting talks, discussions, and networking opportunities.

The deadline for submission is Monday, March 2.

The annual Western Alaska Interdisciplinary Science Conference aims to bring together local and Indigenous knowledge of subsistence-based communities and other scientific research relevant to Western Alaska, including economic, ecological, social and health issues important to rural communities. This is the fourth time WAISC will be held in Dillingham. This year’s conference focuses on the future threats and opportunities in the face of a changing climate.

This is an opportunity to share your work in Western Alaska with colleagues and the Bristol Bay region. Abstracts related to Western Alaska from any scientific disciplinary background are welcome, whether the work is empirical or theoretical, and including fisheries, sustainable energy, mining, rural education, waste management, climate change and more.

Please visit the WAISC 2020 call for abstracts for instructions, deadlines and submission information.

This year, the Southwest Interagency-Fish Meeting and Arctic AAAS Conference will be held in conjunction with WAISC.

For more information or to register for the conference, visit the Western Alaska Interdisciplinary Science Conference website, or contact Gabe Dunham or Todd Radenbaugh.
