Week’s events: UAF history, managing meds, raising fish, roots music

University of Alaska Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and other events this summer. Here is what’s happening during the week ahead:

• On Monday, July 16, the Down Memory Lane interview series will include a discussion with Sue McHenry, UAF’s academic advisor from 1972-2008. Veteran journalist Robert Hannon will conduct the interview, which will be at 7 p.m. at the Elvey Building auditorium.
• On Tuesday, July 17, the Healthy Living lecture series will feature pharmacist Karen Miller on “Secrets to Personal Medication Management: At Home, During Travel, and How to Dispose Properly of Medications.” The lecture will be at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium.
• On Wednesday, July 18, the Discover Alaska lecture series will present Travis Hyer, assistant hatchery manager at the Ruth Burnett Sport Fish Hatchery, discussing the hatchery and stocking Interior waters. The lecture will be at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium.
• On Thursday, July 19, the Music in the Garden concert series will host the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival American Roots Ensemble. Music begins at 7 p.m. at the Georgeson Botanical Garden.
