Week's events include Folk School talk, hearing essentials, bluegrass

University of Alaska Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting 40 free lectures, concerts and other events this summer. Here is what’s happening during the week ahead:


  • On Tuesday, May 28, the Healthy Living lecture series will feature clinical audiologist Lily Hughes. She will discuss “EARssentials: Hearing and Balance Basics.” The lecture will be at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium.

  • On Wednesday, May 29, the Discover Alaska lecture series will feature Kerri Hamos, program director at The Folk School, discussing “What Is a Folk School?” The lecture will be at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium.

  • On Thursday, May 30, the Music in the Garden concert series will host the Dry Cabin String Band. Music begins at 7 p.m. in the Georgeson Botanical Garden.
