Week's events: Art interviews, emergency medicine, Denali park, traditional bluegrass

University of Alaska Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting nearly
50 free lectures, concerts and other events this summer. Here is what’s happening
during the week ahead:
- On Monday, July 10, the Down Memory Lane interview series will feature a discussion with Bill Brody, UAF professor emeritus of art, 1967-2000, and Glen Simpson, UAF professor emeritus of art, 1969-97. Veteran journalist Robert Hannon will conduct the interview, which will be at 7 p.m. at the Elvey Building auditorium.
- On Tuesday, July 11, the Healthy Living lecture series will feature pediatrician Dr. Anne Hanley and emergency room physician Dr. Mark Simon on “Is this an emergency? Do I need to see a doctor now?” The lecture will be at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium.
- On Wednesday, July 12, the Discover Alaska lecture series will present Don Striker, superintendent of Denali National Park and Preserve, on “Why this former East Coast kid values America’s Last Frontier.” The lecture will be at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium.
- On Thursday, July 13, the Music in the Garden concert series will host the Dry Cabin String Band. The band plays and sings hard-driving, traditional bluegrass, featuring guitar, fiddle, banjo and bass. Music begins at 7 p.m. at the Georgeson Botanical Garden.
