Volunteer opportunities for Sexual Assault Awareness Month

April 4, 2018

Tori Tragis

This April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, making it the perfect time to give back to the local women's shelters and associated organizations.

The Student Leadership and Involvement Office is partnering with the Nanook Diversity and Action Center this April for SAAM and heading to the Center for Non-Violent Living on Saturday, April 14. We need your help to make this event a success! Transportation and free food will be provided for all volunteers. The work will run from noon to 3 p.m. and will include reorganizing the center and performing basic cleaning tasks.

The next volunteer opportunity will be the week of SpringFest. On Saturday, April 21, we will provide free breakfast and transportation to all volunteers. There are a selection of three different volunteer opportunities to choose from. We will all enjoy breakfast together and then head off to our separate locations. You can choose from work in the Georgeson Botanical Garden, the Center for Non-Violent Living, or the Fairbanks Community Food Bank. Breakfast will be served at 8 a.m., and volunteer work will run from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

RSVP for both events on OrgSync. Feel free to shoot us an email at uaf-sli@alaska.edu with any questions. Students can count these hours towards a COLD certificate, and student clubs can apply them toward "Pizza for Volunteer Hours."

We hope to see you this April at one of our events!
