October 9, 2020

University Relations

Join the Undergraduate Research and Scholarly Activity office on Thursday, Oct. 22, from 1-2 p.m. for a discussion on challenges in mentoring undergraduate students in research or creative projects. The webinar, "Factors That Predict Student Persistence in Research: From Lab Environment to Mental Health," will be presented by Katelyn Cooper from Arizona State University.

Cooper is an assistant professor in the School of Life Sciences at Arizona State University. Her lab explores questions related to equity and access in undergraduate biology education. Specifically, her work examines how to create more inclusive biology learning environments for students with different identities (e.g., LGBTQ+ students, students with disabilities) as well as for students with anxiety and depression.

Register here to attend the event. Contact the URSA office at 450-8772 or ursa.uaf@alaska.edu for more details.
