United Way campaign ramps up

UAF Chancellor

UAF’s participation in the United Way campaign is critically important to our neighbors in the Fairbanks community. As one of the largest employers in the area, UAF faculty and staff have been longtime supporters the campaign. UAF's United Way campaign demonstrates our commitment to the community.

So far, the UAF community has raised $48,350.86 through just more than 200 pledges. I would like to thank the University Fire Department for being the department with the highest participation rates so far.

Last year we raised more than $69,000 through 198 pledges and we're on track to exceeding that this year. We’re heading in to the final week of the campaign here at UAF and your help is needed more than ever.

What you can do to help.

  • Emphasize to your fellow employees the importance of their donation to the United Way and to the Fairbanks community.

  • Consider a payroll deduction. This is an option which can make donating much easier. You can simply fill out the pledge form and return it to HR via the department’s PPA.

  • Encourage staff to attend the Chili Cook-Off Thursday, Nov. 15, from 12:30 – 2 p.m. at the UAF Wood Center. Tickets are $5 for five tastings and $10 for 12 tastings. All proceeds will go to the United Way.

The most important thing you can do is to participate. It’s not important how much is contributed, just that a contribution is made. Whatever amount is contributed will make a huge difference to a community member in need.

Thank you for all that you do to make UAF a great university.
