The UAF Office of Intellectual Property and Commercialization will host U.S. Patent and Trademark Office representatives Oct. 4-5.

John Cabeca, director of the West Coast Regional USPTO, and Jason Lott, attorney advisor for trademark educational outreach, will be in Fairbanks to speak to UAF and the Fairbanks community. Topics will include patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets and why innovators and entrepreneurs should consider protecting their intellectual property. They'll discuss resources available from the USPTO.

OIPC wants to honor all patent holders in the Fairbanks North Star Borough during an event on Oct. 5, but it needs help. If you are a UAF patent holder from prior to 2011 or a patent holder living in the borough, please contact OIPC by phone 907-474-2605 or email uaf-oipc@alaska.edu.

More information regarding the events OIPC plans to host during the visit will be available soon on its website, www.uaf.edu/oipc; on Facebook and LinkedIn; and in direct email campus fliers and UAF's Cornerstone newsletter.
