The Emergency Services Program at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Community and Technical College will offer a weeklong paramedic refresher course, May 4 - 9.

The course will be taught at the University Park Building, 1000 University Ave. Videoconferencing is available for participants outside the Fairbanks area.

The workshop will cover the integration of knowledge in paramedicine, with evaluation of applied skills. It will follow National Registry Paramedic Refresher guidelines. Participants should be certified as paramedics or advanced providers.

Dennis Edgerly, of Englewood, Colo., will teach the course. Edgerly began his emergency medical services career in 1987. He completed paramedic education in 1989 and began teaching in 1992. In 1999, he was named Instructor/Coordinator of the Year by the State of Colorado, and, in 2012, he received the Hero’s Award from the National Association of EMS Educators. Currently he is the paramedic education coordinator for the Paramedic Education Program at HealthONE EMS. He’s a frequent presenter at EMS conferences around the country. He is a bimonthly columnist for the Journal of Emergency Medical Services online and a content reviewer and contributing author for several EMS texts.
