Thank you for your support of the United Way Campaign this year. We are so close to our goal, let's reach the $70,000 milestone before the winter break! So far, UAF employees have raised $56,696.86.

Mark and I are confident that UAF will reach the goal, but we need your help. Please remind your colleagues that it’s not too late to donate to the United Way agencies. You can donate to the community care funds that are allocated to all 20 agencies, support projects and programs that offer preventative solutions to drug and alcohol abuse in our community, or designate funding to a specific UWTV member agency or any 501(c)(3)non-profit organization in Alaska.

Departments might want to consider giving to United Way in lieu of seasonal gift exchanges or perhaps encourage employees to put the holiday sweet treats to work and raise money through a bake sale. If your department is hosting a holiday potluck, consider inviting employees to fill out their United Way forms, or invite Mark and me to give a brief presentation during the event.

Here are a few ways departments have contributed:

  • Associate Vice Chancellor Scott Bell and an anonymous donor gave a matching give of $5 for each individual donor from Facilities Services.

  • The University Fire Department challenged its students and staff members and raised more than $4,000 though a competition between crews.

  • UAF Student Activities Office raised $1,000 during the chili cook-off, and the system offices raised $376 through a separate event.

  • The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research raised $809 with a bake sale.

Thank you for your continued support of the United Way of the Tanana Valley!
