The College of Engineering and Mines will host the Regional Lego League Robotics Open Tournament Championship from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, at UAF’s Engineering Learning and Innovation Facility. The competition is operated by For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, or FIRST, an international youth education organization.

The event will feature teams of budding robotics engineers and programmers from local elementary and middle school displaying their design and coding prowess by completing a variety of missions with their Lego robots. Students will also have the opportunity to tour the building and facilities of the engineering building during the day’s events.

Parking is free on the Fairbanks campus during weekends. To learn more about this event, contact Joe Alloway, the UAF coordinator, at jaalloway@alaska.edu or 474-7390, or Rebecca Soza, the statewide coordinator, at rsoza@jedc.org.
