UAF police to raise awareness of assaults

UAF Police Chief Keith Mallard and members of the UAF Police Department will join other Alaska men to walk a mile in high heels to raise awareness about domestic violence and sexual assault.

The Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event takes place takes place on Saturday, April 25, at 2 p.m. in the Pioneer Park parking lot.

This is the second year the UAF Police Department has participated in the national awareness-building event. Similar events are planned in Anchorage and Juneau the same day. The event presents opportunities for people to talk about gender-based violence and prevention.

Mallard plans to wear black and purple suede heels for the event.
