UAF hosting free WINTERmester lectures

The University of Alaska Fairbanks will host  free public WINTERmester lectures Jan. 8 and Jan. 12.

On Friday, Jan. 8, UAF's College of Liberal Arts will host "Dark Winter Nights: True Stories from Alaska," a live storytelling event.  Preselected storytellers will share their amazing, poignant and hilarious true stories about life in Alaska. Dark Winter Nights will take place at 7 p.m. in the Schaible Auditorium in the Bunnell Building.

On Tuesday Jan. 12, UA President Jim Johnsen will discuss the fiscal challenges facing the University of Alaska and the plan to keep the institution strong.

Johnsen's lecture will take place at 7 p.m. in the Murie Building auditorium on West Ridge. Free parking is available in the museum lots.
